Wednesday

Today was a solid day. A diligent day.

Cryssi was off work, which makes everything easier and happier for me. I feel less inhibited with company. Despite the enjoyable company of CK and Lando, I and more importantly we got some important stuff done, while having fun on the way.

The pillars of my return to normalcy are meditation, exercise, and finding a job. All three of these areas were attacked and progressed today. Doing these important tasks makes me feel better mentally and spiritually. I do not really know why they fall by the wayside so often. But the why of things will come later. For now, I must concentrate on forward momentum to a healthier place. A less foggy place wherein I will have more ability to dissect my struggles and avoid them in future days.

I. Meditation

Cryssi and I did the daily meditation on waking up, as well as, two moment meditations that arose through the day. Only a total of 12 minutes of mindfulness practice, but the day felt much more manageable with the spark of true concentration.

II. Exercise

To complete my health rings, I took a walk with Cryssi and Lando. Later in the day, I completed my exercise on the airdyne bike.

Although I got mad at a cyclist about a quarter through the walk, We three had a lovely time.

Although I got mad at a cyclist about a quarter through the walk, We three had a lovely time.

I need to add more strength work but I am proud of the streak of completing rings that the family and I are on. Today marks 24 days in a row of Mom, Dad, Jamie, Adam, and I completing our rings. The family endurance challenge goes on with all competitors still in it.

III. Job Search

Although a low bar, today I set aside time and in a concentrated manner searched for work. Usually, I am more sporadic and work on searching and applying while watching sports or listening to podcasts. So, todays search was a small but helpful step along the way.

IV. Miscellaneous

Outside of these pillar tasks. Some other stuff occurred.

Cryssi and I started a comic book club. In the club, each of us pick a comic or series and we both read our own and the others pick. Cryssi selected a Star Wars series…of course! A series on Darth Vader to be specific. I on the other hand chose The Immortal Hulk. Very excited for both!

Additionally, I started a book for the first time, in far too long. It is called “The Once and Future King” by T.H. White. A novel based on Arthurian legend published in the 1950s. I very much enjoyed the first two chapters. Especially, after our experience of “The Green Knight”.

Later in the evening, we settled in for some entertainment. First we watched “The Wire”, the third to last episode to be exact. It is a tough one in the saga as the mythic Omar dies.

After dinner we watched the fun “Antman and The Wasp”, it was somehow our first time, but both of us enjoyed the essential element of the infinity saga. Finally, to decompress from the high-energy flick we watched the calming, uplifting “Making It”. We saw a couple episodes including a room build, a costume build, and a mantle decorating contest.

It was a nice day. I am blessed and grateful for life and my part in it.

I wish you and all to be happy, healthy, and at peace.

Family Recharge

Today was not exceptionally productive, but sure was a lovely.

Around 7:30am, Jamie arrived in San Diego for a weekend visit to Cryssina and I; as well as, a celebration of Forrest’s birthday. Shortly after arrival, Jamie and I grabbed Chik Fil A that predictably hit the spot.

Late in the morning, the brothers hit the road for Fiesta Island. With towels, gloves, and a baseball in hand, we settled on a our spot on the island and pulled in. A beautiful spot filled with postcard views. Jamie and I shared what felt like a few hundred throws and catches. It was an uplifting round of catch with my brother.

We swam in the salty water before wrapping up and heading home to Texas street.

As each brother took their shower, the other scoured the menus of sandwich shops debating which would be the best lunch. We settled on Ike’s. Ted Williams for Jamie, Hunter Pence for Cryssi, and a MadBum for me. Damn good sandwiches!

Some time later, Cryssi and Lando arrived back from visiting the Loflins in Bakersfield.

Jamie, Cryssi, and I enjoyed some trivia via The Dozen on youtube. Always a pleasure.

Shortly after, Jamie hit the road to check in at his AirBnB on Curlew to rest up before birthday dinner with Forrest, Max, and Molly.

Cryssi and I chatted at length about her trip and family. I spoiled Lando.

Finishing writing this post now ready for bed after a fun-filled, rejuvenating day with my loved ones. Deeply grateful for my brother, Jamie; Dog, Lando; and, Partner, Cryssi.

Best wishes to you dear reader!
